Delta’s new Airbus A350 has been designed with new features that will help tackle an ever-present traveler concern - fatigue. From wider windows to LED ambient lighting and better cabin pressurisation, the features are intend to help you acclimatise and arrive at your destination feeling more energised.
But, Delta’s mission of comfort in the skies, now extends to the ground as well. Delta Airlines and Equinox Fitness have joined forces in a mission to help travellers feel fresher and more energetic when travelling. Research from Western State Colorado University, notes that people who are fitter are less susceptible to feeling the effects of travel fatigue.
Introducing, SWEATLAG - a scientifically created workout to help beat travel fatigue.
The low-to-moderate intensity workouts will focus on easing muscle stiffness, help muscles reset to a new timezone, as well as, giving the body a chance to shake off the mental and physical fatigue experienced when travelling. Delta’s Vice President - Ranjan Goswami commented “These exclusive fitness classes complement the [travel fatigue] fighting features* of our new A350 aircraft.”
Each speedy exercise sequence is “based on movement patterns we perform on the go (like carrying suitcases and placing your bags in the overhead bin) and ones we need to do as a result of our sedentary habits en route” says Dana McCaw, creative manager of group fitness at Equinox.
The Sweatlag workout has three key pillars: “mindful, mobility movers to warm up, three bodyweight conditioning circuits, and six stretches to cool down.” Dana McCaw advises that “you should hold off high-intensity training for at least a day or two after a long flight, since it can put additional stress on the body.”
Classes are being rolled out at three LA Equinox locations until August 2nd. All you have to do to get in is show a recent boarding pass or flight receipt. All airlines welcome! Reserve your space on a FREE 45-min workout here.
And, for those who aren’t in the area, fear not, SWEATLAG have released the workout plans online, so no matter where you are in the world, hotel or home, you can join in.
So, even though a workout is the last thing on your mind after travel, instead of reaching for gallons of coffee or wasting a few hours napping, getting sweaty could actually be the solution to feel more energised and raring to start an adventure.
Join us in sweating it out and say goodbye to buzz killing travel fatigue!
